The "How" of Our Family Owned Business...

Other than a few employees, my children are my team! Our family has the motto “We work together, we play together.”  We pull together and have a pretty efficient assembly line along with a lot of laughs and fun sprinkled throughout our production days. Of course, we have frustrating times as well and continue to have “family meetings” about how to balance work and family life.  One thing’s for sure-  we are so grateful that our business is no longer being run out of our family kitchen & dining room! Thanks to “Pap” (my dad) overseeing the remodeling of our 2 car garage, as of September 2021 we officially moved into our new “pretzel production facility”. We love it!

Marcus, my super energetic 10 year old son, adds the entertainment, or should I say the side track? He also helps with opening supplies, labeling bags, adding sprinkles & deconstructing supply boxes. Anna, my 15 year old daughter is no nonsense and quick to help and organize and keep us on track regarding a time schedule. She has quickly become the fastest at putting the tags on the bags and boxing the pretzel orders. She is great at delegating how to do things more efficiently & she has become our “quality control” - as her standards are very high and not much slides by her.  On more than one occasion she has corrected my work - and I’m OK with that as we are all gifted in different areas.  My 16 year old daughter Ella handcrafts the most beautiful Caramel Swirl Pretzel, excels at bagging the pretzels at the fastest rate and she is always quick to help with a smile on her face, no matter what the request.  Emmaleigh, my 18 year old daughter is our creativity, practicality and calm behind the scenes. She uses her artistic flare as she carefully designs and handcrafts each new artisan pretzel. She also demonstrates her patient nature as we all give her our opinions during the creation process. We then show the variety of her samples to friends, family and customers to taste and share their opinions on the aesthetics and flavors. Out of this process is born our new “Flavor of the Month” and sometimes this new flavor graduates to become a new staple flavor that is available year-round.
